Liverpool ‘have already found brilliant Trent Alexander-Arnold replacement’

Liverpool have already found their ideal replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold as they continue to scour the transfer market for alternatives.

That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the Reds are working hard behind the scenes to asses their options.

This comes as Alexander-Arnold, 26, is growing increasingly likely to leave the club at the end of the season upon the expiry of his contract at Anfield.

Brown told Football Insider on 27 February that Alexander-Arnold is likely to join Real Madrid with the intention of eventually making a stunning return to Liverpool.

In the meantime, he has insisted Conor Bradley will be seen as the natural successor to the England international unless they can sign a significant improvement.

Slot is said to have been impressed by his performances so far, while Brown told Football Insider in November that Bradley is the “outstanding candidate” to replace Alexander-Arnold.

Liverpool plan to sign new right-back ‘better than Conor Bradley’

Football Insider revealed on 28 February that Liverpool want to sign a new right-back alongside a centre-back, as the latter has become their top target.

However, Brown, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, has insisted any right-back signed will have to be an improvement on Bradley.

Conor Bradley has done brilliantly for Liverpool,” he told Football Insider.

“He’s never let them down and whenever he’s called upon he makes a very good impression.

“I hear Slot has been impressed by him as well not just on the pitch but with his work in training.

“I think their problem is, if Trent Alexander-Arnold is going, whoever they look to bring in will have to be a better option that Conor Bradley.

“That’s no easy task, so if they can’t find that sort of player who will also have to be available for the right price, I think Bradley is the ideal replacement.

“He’s proved he can perform at the top level and in this Liverpool team.

“He’s the natural successor there, it would make a lot of sense.

“So I expect they’ll have a look in the transfer market but with the idea in mind that if they can’t find the right player, they’ve already got one on the books.”

Anthony Robinson leapfrogged by Arne Slot’s top defensive target

Alongside a new right-back and centre-back, Liverpool have been looking to add a left-back to Slot’s side as they prepare for a future without Andy Robertson.

Brown told Football Insider in December that Liverpool want to replace Robertson and have identified Fulham’s Antonee Robertson as one of their top targets.

However, Football Insider has now revealed Bournemouth star Milos Kerkez is a concrete target for Liverpool as question marks have emerged about Robinson.

The Fulham left-back will be 28 by the time next season gets underway in August, and Slot is keen to sign a more long-term target for the future.
