Liverpool have been ‘caught out’ as Trent Alexander-Arnold quotes emerge – pundit
Alan Hutton has claimed last season’s exploits have “taken their toll” on Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and Rangers full-back suggested the Reds’ “high intensity football” is not sustainable in the current fixture schedule.
Jurgen Klopp’s side have had an indifferent start to the 2022-23 campaign.

Speaking to Red Bull (21 September), Alexander-Arnold pointed to the changed fixture schedule when assessing Liverpool’s struggles.
The right-back said his side have been “in at the deep end” straight away this season because of the World Cup.
When asked by Football Insider for his reaction to Alexander-Arnold’s comments, Hutton said: “Liverpool are not the only team going through that process.
“That being said, they played every game that could have so they played a lot of football. 10 years ago you would say 40 games is a lot but now they are playing 60-odd. It is a lot of football.
“The way Liverpool play, high intensity football with full-backs bombing up and down, it is going to take its toll.
“They have just been caught out defensively. They have looked shaky. You cannot get away from that.

“You do not become a bad team overnight though. It is as simple as that. I have no doubt that they will bounce back. They have outstanding players so their form will turnaround.
“They can go on a nine game unbeaten run no problem. I do not see them winning the league but they could be up there challenging.”
