Liverpool have ‘massive problem’ after injury updates on Diogo Jota and teammate – Robinson

Paul Robinson has claimed Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has “a massive problem” following injuries to Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one claimed Jota, 25, and Diaz, 25, are the “first two choices” on the left wing.

Jota was stretched off in the second half of Liverpool’s 1-0 win over Man City on Sunday (16 October).

Speaking to club media (18 October), Klopp revealed the Portugal international would be out for months and miss the World Cup because of a calf problem.

The Reds boss also provided an update on Diaz, who has been sidelined since the 3-2 loss at Arsenal.

He said the winger is “not even close to training.”

When asked by Football Insider for his assessment of the latest injury news from Anfield, Robinson said: “It is a massive problem because of the formation Klopp now wants to play.

“Diaz and Jota would be the first two choices on the left-hand side. You can cope with one of them being out, but two… They have no-one else of their quality to play in that position.

“They have some tough fixtures coming up. Nunez will play more games now though. There will be a big reliance of [Darwin] Nunez, [Roberto] Firmino and [Mohamed] Salah to get the goals.

“They haven’t really got an option on the bench anymore because of the injuries.”
