Hugo Ekitike reacts to Burnley’s Tchaouna reveal as Liverpool interest grows

Hugo Ekitike has responded to the news that Burnley have signed Loum Tchaouna from Lazio amid growing interest in the striker from Liverpool.

Clarets boss Scott Parker is eager to ready his squad for next season’s Premier League after winning promotion from the Championship last term.

Burnley officially announced the signing of Tchaouna on Wednesday, 2 July, and will hope that the winger can adjust to the English top-flight after making 24 Serie A appearances for his former club Lazio last campaign.

Meanwhile, fellow France Under-21 international Ekitike is a serious option for Liverpool as Arne Slot looks to strengthen his attack.

Ekitike responds to Burnley transfer announcement amid Liverpool interest

Having seen the 23-year-old score 22 goals across all competitions last season, Arsenal are battling Liverpool for Ekitike.

But as the Reds and the Gunners strive to prepare themselves for next season’s Premier League title race, Burnley’s move for Tchaouna could prove to be a big step towards clinching top-flight survival.

Taking to Instagram on 2 July, the Lancashire club posted: “We are delighted to announce the arrival of France U21 winger Loum Tchaouna from S.S Lazio for an undisclosed fee.”

Ektike commented on Burnley’s announcement with two pink heart emojis.

But the Dutchman will have been left disappointed by the fact that the Reds suffered premature exits in both the FA Cup and the Champions League before being beaten by Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup final.

Slot will be determined not only to retain his side’s Premier League title next season, but also to compete for more silverware, not least the Champions League.

Amid their desire to sign a new striker, Liverpool are interested in Alexander Isak, who has proven himself as one of the best strikers in the English game throughout his time with Newcastle.

But if the Merseyside club fail to land a move for the Sweden star, Ekitike’s attacking exploits for Frankfurt suggest that he could be the man to help Slot’s side win more trophies.

Meanwhile, former FIFA referee Keith Hackett exclusively told Liverpool News 247 that Harvey Elliott will be investigated for a gesture he made in England’s Under-21 European Championship final victory over Germany.
