Liverpool in advanced talks for ‘the next Kylian Mbappe’ as Barcelona left in the dust
Tottenham and Liverpool could both be on the verge of securing one of Europe’s most prestigious young talents in the January transfer window.
The duo have both endured surprising struggles in the Premier League in recent weeks, and that has resulted in the positions of both of their managers coming under scrutiny.
However, Thomas Frank still has the backing of the Tottenham board, while FSG and the rest of the Anfield hierarchy are also strongly against sacking Arne Slot unless absolutely necessary.
Liverpool are planning to hand resources to Slot once again in the January window, and their race with Spurs for one of their main targets now looks set to go down to the wire.

Tottenham and Liverpool in pole position to sign Yan Diomande
Liverpool are one of the frontrunners to sign Antoine Semenyo this winter, but some of their other targets are far more leftfield.
The Reds have had their eyes fixed on the RB Leipzig starlet Yan Diomande for several weeks, and they are now facing a battle with Tottenham for his signature, and it looks set to go right down to the wire.
The pair of Premier League giants are both in “very advanced contact” with Diomande’s entourage, according to Sacha Tavolieri for Sky Sports Switzerland.
Spurs have been tracking the winger for several months, as his profile hugely appeals to Frank, while Liverpool view the youngster as a great option to provide “freshness” to their attack.
Leipzig themselves are yet to enter discussions with either club, and are said to be approaching the situation with calmness.
Barcelona are also believed to be monitoring Diomande’s situation, but have not yet pressed forward with their interest at all.
German media has branded Diomande ‘the new Kylian Mbappe’
It emerged at the start of November that Liverpool had sent scouts to take in Diomande during a game, along with the likes of PSG, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Manchester City.
The 19-year-old already has five goal contributions from his opening 12 league appearances this term, in what is his debut Bundesliga campaign.
Nevertheless, he has quickly become a huge attraction for the German media, who believe he has the potential to go to the very top of European football.
Diomande has already been compared to both Kylian Mbappe and Ousmane Dembele, with Sport Bild suggesting that “everyone trusts him to have a similar career” to the pair of French superstars.
The Ivorian was also branded as “one of the greatest talents in Europe,” and as a result, is no surprise to see this level of interest in him arise of late.
Leipzig splashed out £17.6million to sign the left-sided winger from Leganes as recently as the summer, but they could already be set to lose him in January, if Spurs or Liverpool get their way.
