Liverpool in late-window signing blitz – ‘It’s happening, the media are wrong’
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has insisted there is already plenty of transfer activity behind the scenes at Liverpool as Michael Edwards and Arne Slot plot a late-window signing blitz.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes the duo will make the right decisions and there is still plenty of time to get new signings through the door.
Liverpool are yet to make any new additions so far this summer after appointing Slot as Jurgen Klopp’s successor.
Edwards, meanwhile, has recently returned to Anfield after Fenway Sports Group made him it’s chief executive of football.
Liverpool chiefs will make right decisions on new signings
Wyness believes it’s important Slot has taken time to assess matters behind the scenes first before making any rash decisions over his squad.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “I didn’t expect them to go head-long into the market.
“I think Arne Slot had to have time to come in to analyse things for the internal discussions to happen.
“There is still plenty of time left in the market. There is about another six weeks or so to go.
“I think they are going to make decisions when they have to. Let’s make no mistake, discussions will already be going on in many areas.
“The media is often so wrong in terms of what really is going to happen and a lot of discussions are going on behind the scenes that are not known about. Things are and will be happening.

“There will have been moves and things going on.
“But I think Slot coming in, having some time to stabilise is the right thing. You don’t want to make rash decisions because you will live with them for a long time.
“I have great respect for Michael Edwards. I think they will make the right moves at the right time.”
