Kieran Maguire makes ‘genuinely huge’ claim as Liverpool strike new deal

The Liverpool badge will increase the value of any product – a phenomenon Kieran Maguire calls the “Harry Potter” effect.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the finance guru lauded the Merseysiders after they announced a new commercial deal with energy drink giants Predator.

The brand sells products in 25 countries in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Sout East Asia, and Latin America.

As part of the deal, Predator Energy will be permitted to use Liverpool’s crest in advertising and on their products.

Predator CEO Rodney Sacks said the partnership would “grow our presence throughout the globe.”

Maguire claimed that the new deal will proliferate the Liverpool brand too and please their fanbase in far-flung corners of the world.

“It’s certainly a double whammy,” he told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams.

“The club benefits because people in those geographic areas will be happy because they get access to Liverpool-sponsored products.

“The Asian fanbase, the American fanbase and so on will be quite pleased. For Liverpool fans worldwide, this deal is a sign of supporting a genuinely huge club.

“The sponsor themselves benefits from the Harry Potter effect. If you have a pair of pyjamas or a rucksack and you stick a Harry Potter logo on, you can A) sell more and B) charge more.”

Liverpool posted a pre-tax loss of £46million over the last financial year as the economic impact of the pandemic set in.

But their commercial income shot up by £27m over the same period, from £188m to £219m.
