Liverpool news: Expert issues ‘100 per cent’ Darwin Nunez claim after source’s £55m update
Liverpool will be doing their due diligence on Benfica striker Darwin Nunez, according to Kevin Campbell.
The former Arsenal and Everton striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, said the 22-year-old could be a “risky” signing despite his prolific goal record.
Nunez has scored a staggering 25 goals in 30 appearances across all competitions for Benfica this season.

An Anfield source told Football Insider (26 February) that the club are closely monitoring the Uruguay international’s progress.
Scouts were at the Estadio Da Luz to run the rule over Nunez against Ajax last week.
The £55m-valued centre-forward, who’s contract in Lisbon runs until the summer of 2025, has been the subject of failed bids from West Ham and Brighton over the last 12 months.
When asked by Football Insider for his thoughts on Liverpool’s interest in Nunez, Campbell said: “What has to happen is, you have to do your due diligence on the player.
“Does he know where the net is? 100 per cent.
“What you tend to look at though is his all-round game. You need to check him out and find out what kind of character he is.

“It is always a risk though, signing a player from the Portuguese league. You hope that you have all of your ducks in a row but there are no guarantees.
“There will be quite a few clubs interested in Nunez given his goal output. It will be interesting to see who meets Benfica’s demands in the summer. He is definitely a sought after player.”
