Liverpool news: Expert issues ‘unbelievable’ Ben Doak verdict after what he saw in person

Liverpool have an “unbelievable” player on their hands in the form of Ben Doak.

That’s according to former Hibernian striker Tam McManus, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the “outstanding” youngster.

Doak, 17, was handed his Premier League debut at Villa Park on Monday (26 December).

As shown on Twitter (26 December), the teenage winger was full of confidence and impressed after replacing Darwin Nunez in the dying stages.

McManus watched Doak play in person back in November and was blown away by what he saw.

“I think he broke the record for the youngest Scottish player to play in the Premier League so that says a lot,” McManus told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild.

“He is outstanding. I watched him play for Scotland Under-21s about six weeks ago and he looked unbelievable for 17, I was thinking ‘wow’.

“He was playing at a great level in a team full of people several years older than him. He’s played in an Old Firm as well, that was his debut.

“Celtic were desperate to keep him. Giving him his debut in the Old Firm just showed how much Ange liked him.

“He has the world at his feet, honestly. Scotland have been desperate for a superstar to come through, not to put too much pressure on him.

“Liverpool have a cracking player on their hands here, he is seriously, seriously talented. He has that magic dust.”

Doak left Celtic after making two senior appearances for the club.

He officially joined Liverpool back in March.
