Liverpool news: Expert shares ‘phenomenal’ Alisson insight after ‘watching him closely’

Paul Robinson has heaped praise on Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson after Wednesday’s win over Inter Milan.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Spurs and England number one suggested the 29-year-old is the best in the world in one-on-one situations.

Alisson had a quiet night at the San Siro on Wednesday as Liverpool beat Inter Milan 2-0 in the Champions League.

The Brazilian goalkeeper has been in stellar form and has kept six clean sheets in seven appearances across all competitions in 2022.

Robinson claimed Alisson’s footwork is what sets him apart from the rest.

“Alisson is phenomenal in one on one situations because he keeps a low centre of gravity,” he told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs.

“He does not commit himself. His footwork is exceptional. He keeps his feet on the floor and that allows himself to stay low and mobile.

“Players think they have got round Alisson, but he has the ability to move to the side so quickly. It’s so difficult to stay on your feet at such a low level. It gives him the edge on most if not all goalkeepers.

“When you watch him closely, his core and lower leg strength allows him to be in the perfect position. That is why he’s so good in one-on-one situations.”

Alisson has kept 16 clean sheets in 23 appearances across all competitions this season.

Only Manchester City’s Ederson has kept more clean sheets in the Premier League this term. [Premier League]
