Liverpool news: Jurgen Klopp ‘not happy’ with Calvin Ramsay – ‘he’s watching for a reason,’ says pundit

Alan Hutton has suggested Jurgen Klopp “won’t be happy” with Liverpool youngster Calvin Ramsay.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Tottenham and Aston Villa right-back said young players need to “shine” at any chance they get in front of the first team manager.

Ramsay, 19, was sent off for Liverpool under-21s against Tottenham on Monday (9 January) after he was adjudged to have tripped Spurs’ Romaine Mundle who appeared to be through on goal.

As relayed by Anfield Watch Academy (8 January), first team boss Klopp was watching on for the game.

The defender has featured for the Reds in the Champions League and the League Cup this season.

Hutton insisted Ramsay needs to prove to the boss that he can be trusted in the first team.

They will take it seriously,” he told Football Insider.

If he is there watching he is watching for a reason.

You look at some of the injury problems that Liverpool have had, he will be looking at the likes of [Ben] Doak, Bobby Clarke and Ramsay to see if he can trust them and bring them into the squad.

Every opportunity that you play and the manager is there, you have to shine. You have to show that you are capable at that level to get anywhere near the first team.

Of course he will not be happy but I am sure he will sort it out.
