Liverpool news: Kenny claims big Salah development is ‘massive news’
Mohamed Salah’s return could give Liverpool the push they need to charge down Man City at the top of the Premier League.
That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after Salah returned after losing last Sunday’s (6 February) Africa Cup of Nations final.
Salah, 29, came off the bench as Liverpool beat Leicester 2-0 on Thursday (10 February).
However, it was his in-form teammate Diogo Jota who scored both goals on the night.
Kenny can’t wait to see the two players link up and claimed the duo could lead the charge as the Reds look to hunt down table-toppers Man City.
“Listen, to have Salah back, this is massive news,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ewan Kingsbury.
“They were still winning anyway, weren’t they? So, to have him back shows the depth Liverpool have.
“He will have been gutted on Sunday but these things happen. It was either going to be him or Mane.
“In that sense, there was nothing Liverpool could do about it.
“When Salah is on form, for me, he is unbelievable and the best player in the Premier League and he strengthens Liverpool even more because they have looked decent when he’s been away.
“Jota has stepped up to the mark and he’s been unbelievable. So Salah being back is big for Liverpool fans when Jota is already playing well.

“Liverpool are the only ones who can catch City now and Salah helps them in that fight to reach them.
“I think they can make it a bit tight for City before the end of the season, let’s see what happens.”
