Liverpool news: Luis Diaz is ‘signing of the season’ after ‘incredible’ reveal in last 24 hours – pundit

Liverpool have pulled off the “signing of the season” in Luis Diaz, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker claimed Diaz has been “outstanding” for Liverpool after he started their EFL Cup win over Chelsea on Sunday (27 February).

Jurgen Klopp said in a press conference yesterday (1 March) the winger did “incredibly well” at Wembley.

He played 97 minutes before being replaced in extra time before the Reds won the final on a penalty shoot-out.

Asked whether Liverpool now have a chance of winning four trophies this season, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “100 per cent.

“What Liverpool have done in the last few months has been outstanding. Just to claw back that points gap between them and Man City, a lot of other teams would have given up with how far behind they were.

“Liverpool have brought in some outstanding players, Diaz is the signing of the season for me. He’s been huge, outstanding.

“It sets them good stead to fight for everything. On their day they could beat anyone in Europe. No team in Europe will want to play them.

“They can win all four or they will win only one. We’ll wait and see but they’ve got a big chance of doing it.”

Diaz has one goal in six appearances for his new club since his £37.5million switch from FC Porto in January.

The 25-year-old is under contract at Anfield until the summer of 2027.
