Liverpool news: ‘Posturing’ Mohamed Salah guilty of ‘skulduggery’ after update in last 48 hours – pundit

Mohamed Salah and his representatives are engaging in “skulduggery” after suggestions he could join another Premier League club if he quits Liverpool.

That is the view of ex-Man City and England full-back Danny Mills, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the latest “posturing” in Salah’s contract saga.

As quoted by ESPN earlier this month (11 March) Jurgen Klopp said the club “cannot do much more” and they are waiting on the 29-year-old.

Salah’s agent seemed to respond to Klopp’s comments on Twitter with a number of laughing emojis.

Fabrizio Romano reported on his Here We Go Podcast on Tuesday (22 March) that the winger wants to stay in the Premier League and his priority is to remain at Liverpool.

He is under contract at Anfield until the summer of 2023.

“I just wonder if this is a bit of posturing as much as anything else,” Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“He’s not the right age profile for City. They’ve got plenty of talent in those positions already. I’m not saying he wouldn’t get into the team but if he does then another quality player will drop out. Where does he fit into that?

“He’s an outstanding player but is that what City need? Look at Foden, Grealish, Mahrez, Silva, Sterling. They’ve got an abundance of attacking options in those wide areas.

“Of the other teams, Chelsea might not be able to afford him now.

Liverpool

“I think it would be very unlikely that Mo Salah stays in the Premier League if he doesn’t stay at Liverpool.

“It’s a bit of ‘If you don’t sign him up, he’s going to one of your rivals’. I think there’s a little bit of skulduggery with agents going on there.”

In other news, Liverpool have told a 26-year-old to find a new club and three offers have been tabled.
