Liverpool news: Pundit amazed by ‘superstar’ who ‘reminds me of Phil Foden’
Noel Whelan has claimed Harvey Elliott will be “breaking down Jurgen Klopp’s door” for a regular run in the Liverpool side.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed 18-year-old Elliott will be a “superstar for a long, long time”.
Elliott began the season playing as part of Liverpool’s midfield three but suffered an ankle fracture against Leeds in September which sidelined him for almost five months.

Elliott has since made a gradual return to action and could reprise his midfield role with several key Reds stars on the treatment table.
As quoted by the Liverpool Echo (4 March), Klopp confirmed Thiago Alcantara, Naby Keita, and Curtis Jones are all injury doubts as the Merseysiders take on West Ham today.
When asked about the midfield, Whelan told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury: “Klopp’s got so many options in that central area, hasn’t he?
“You could have Elliott in there. I like seeing him out in the wide areas as well, driving in and producing that bit of magic – but there’s fierce competition out there at the moment.
“James Milner, Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott – these are all players who will be breaking down Klopp’s door in order to get into that side.
“But when you talk about longevity, Elliott is the one. He’s gonna be a superstar for a long, long time – he reminds me of a Phil Foden.
“Klopp will make an assessment on who to put in there but they look a lot stronger – even with Thiago out.”

Elliott has made nine appearances for Liverpool this term, scoring once.
The Reds went into the West Ham clash knowing a win would take them to within three points of league leaders Man City.
