Liverpool transfer news: Pundit can’t believe Raphinha update from journalist

Kevin Campbell has claimed Leeds United winger Raphinha has no “obvious route” to the starting lineup at interested clubs Liverpool and Man United.

The former Arsenal striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the 25-year-old would have to “earn his stripes” in both dressing rooms.

According to Fabrizio Romano on Twitter (14 March), Liverpool are interested in the Leeds United winger ahead of this summer’s transfer window.

The journalist, speaking on the Rio Ferdinand Presents Five podcast (17 March), claimed Man United are not currently negotiating for Raphinha despite being linked with the Brazillian by Gianluigi Longari.

The former Rennes man has notched nine goals and three assists in 27 Premier League appearances this term.

Campbell claimed a “huge amount” of clubs will be interested if he is “available” in the summer window.

“Raphinha is an excellent player, there’s no doubt about it,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.

“However, he’s going to want to play. You look at both sets of squads – Man United and Liverpool – and there’s not an obvious route to him starting.

“Where would he fit in at Liverpool? Why are they interested?

“Going into both sets of dressing rooms you’d have to really earn your stripes, so it’s a tough one for Raphinha.

“If he is available this summer, I think he’d be wanted by a huge amount clubs, in England and abroad. He’s a top player.”

Raphinha, capped seven times by Brazil, cost Leeds United a reported £17million in 2020.

The 25-year-old is contracted at Elland Road until June 2024.

As quoted by Leeds Live (17 March), Whites boss Jesse Marsch insisted he would “love to keep” Raphinha for “as long as possible”.
