Liverpool news: Pundit issues ‘frightening’ claim after Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino injury updates

Liverpool will beat Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final even without Roberto Firmino and Diogo Jota, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker insisted Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz are a “frightening” front three.

The Daily Mail report the club are cautiously optimistic Jota will be available for the Wembley final but Firmino has been ruled out.

Medical expert Ben Dinnery told this site today (23 February) Firmino could be out for six weeks with his hamstring injury.

The duo have missed Liverpool’s last two Premier League games but Jurgen Klopp’s side have fired in nine goals in their absence.

“It would be a blow to be without them,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“But now they’ve got the numbers to be able to cope. Mane, Salah and Diaz is a scary front three. That’s just frightening.

“Chelsea will not have much experience of playing against Diaz so that’s going to be a bit of a new one.

“I think Liverpool will win that final, I really do. It’s a good test for a Champions League final, that could easily be the Champions League final this season.

“It’s going to be a fascinating game and I can’t wait to watch it.”

Liverpool

Sunday’s clash is Liverpool’s first Carabao Cup final appearance since the 2015-16 campaign when they were beaten by Man City.

They have won the competition eight times, most recently under Kenny Dalglish in the 2011-12 season.

In other news, Liverpool could sign the next Mohamed Salah after an ‘exceptional’ update.
