Liverpool news: Expert issues ‘massive’ Roberto Firmino claim after two developments

Roberto Firmino’s return to fitness is a “massive boost” for Liverpool ahead of the title run-in, according to Kevin Campbell.

The former Arsenal and Everton striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 30-year-old “is vital” to Jurgen Klopp’s side as he is different to their other attackers.

Firmino has been sidelined since the 2-0 win at Inter Milan in mid-February.

Speaking to club media (11 March), Jurgen Klopp confirmed Roberto Firmino has returned to training and is fit to face Brighton.

The news comes just days after Thiago Alcantara returned to first-team action.

Campbell believes the duo’s availability is of particular significant because of the “individual attributes” they both possess.

“It is a massive boost to get Firmino back at this stage,” he told Football Insider assistant editor Dylan Childs.

“He’s a vital player for them. He adds a bit more guile to their attack.

“Having Thiago back is also great news. He is a brilliant midfielder. Liverpool do not have another player like him really. He can dictate the tempo of a game.

“Both of those players being fit and available for this weekend if massive for Liverpool. They both have individual attributes that no other player in the squad has.”
