Liverpool news: Robinson issues ‘incredible’ verdict as Trent Alexander-Arnold footage emerges

Paul Robinson has claimed the scenes in Liverpool on Sunday were “incredible” given the “disappointment” of this season.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one said the club have not had the opportunity to share their recent successes with their fans due to Covid and lockdown.

The Reds missed out on the Champions League trophy on Saturday following a 1-0 defeat to Real Madrid in Paris.

Jurgen Klopp’s side were two games away from an historic quadruple earlier this month but ended the season with just two trophies – the FA Cup and League Cup.

As shown on Trent Alexander-Arnold’s Twitter (29 May), hundreds of thousands of Liverpool fans turned out for an open top bus parade to celebrate their teams achievements this season.

When asked by Football Insider for his thoughts on the scenes in Liverpool, Robinson said: “They have got a huge fanbase.

“Their following is incredible and we saw that.

“We saw the scenes in Paris. Not all of the fans got in there to celebrate and be part of what should have been a special occasion so it’s good to see fans could have their moment with the players a day later.

“The biggest disappointment for them this season will be the Premier League. They won the Premier League doing Covid and lockdown with an empty stadium.

“They have not really had many opportunities to share their success and celebrate with their fans. It was a special day for them.”
