Liverpool news: ‘Surprising amount of Premier League teams’ trying to sign Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in January – pundit
Frank McAvennie has backed Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to find a “better” club than Southampton if he leaves Liverpool.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker said Oxlade-Chamberlain is a Premier League level player and insisted he will have options for a move.
On 16 November, sources told this site that Liverpool are set to offer the 29-year-old back to his former club Southampton ahead of the January transfer window.

The midfielder’s current contract expires at the end of the season and could leave for free.
The former England international has had his fair share of injury struggles since moving to Anfield in 2017 and has only managed four appearances this season for a total of 120 minutes.
But McAvennie insisted Oxlade-Chamberlain still has potential.
“I think he is a good player,” he told Football Insider.
“When he went in the team he was great but he has slowly filtered away. I think he is better than Southampton.
“Southampton is a good move and I think a new manager will do them the world of good. If he is wanting to play football and he wants to stay in the Premier League and that is the only club interested in him then he might have to.

“He is dynamic, he is a good player, I think there will be a few teams coming in for him. I think he is a Premier League player and could do a job for many teams.
“I think there will be a surprising amount of teams looking at him.“
