Liverpool on alert as news of ‘confidential’ Antoine Semenyo release clause emerges

Liverpool remain in the hunt for Antoine Semenyo despite Bournemouth’s reluctance to part with their prized winger.

Sources told Football Insider that Liverpool have the advantage over Premier League rivals to sign Semenyo.

Former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider on 14 October that Bournemouth could demand up to £75million for Semenyo given his lightning start to the 2025-26 season.

The Reds will be eager to land his signature but will face competition from Arsenal to sign Semenyo who are challenging for the league title once again.

Bournemouth keeping release clause hidden as Liverpool vie for Semenyo’s signature

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the Cherries will not make it easy for any club to acquire the talented Ghanaian.

The 25-year-old is the second highest goalscorer in the English top-flight after seven matches and has rightly warranted intense attention from top clubs.

Speaking on the Inside Track podcast over the mystery behind the number 24’s eye-watering release clause, I explained: “It doesn’t change it massively, but clubs will be aware of this release clause that there is a certain figure that can be met to allow them to activate it and try and sign Antoine Semenyo rather than trying to negotiate something with Bournemouth.

“Bournemouth are keeping this release clause figure confidential, which they’re well within their rights to do so.

“It would obviously make things easier, this release clause, but I don’t think it’ll change anything in that respect because I think it’ll be a pretty open race for Antoine Semenyo probably next summer.

“There are no doubts that he’s one of the most in-form players in the Premier League and obviously that results in massive interest in his services as well.”

Bournemouth focus attention on keeping Andoni Iraola as Man United circle

Sources told Football Insider on 22 September that Andoni Iraola was on Man United’s managerial shortlist to replace Ruben Amorim.

The Spaniard has flourished since arriving to the Premier League, turning the Cherries into a fierce outfit capable of beating anyone.

Former Man United and Sunderland chief scout Mick Brown exclusively told Football Insider on 9 October that Bournemouth are confident they can agree a new contract with Iraola.

The deal would be a major blow to the Red Devils should they seek to sack Amorim with the south coast side desperate to keep their tactically masterful manager.
