Liverpool plan to accept ‘significant’ Tyler Morton bid – sources

Liverpool would demand a “significant” fee if they were to sell Tyler Morton this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that Liverpool will attempt to offload some of their fringe players this summer to boost their transfer kitty.

Morton is one of those who could go but the Merseysiders will hold out for what sources say will be a major fee that recognises his development.

Morton spent last season on loan at Hull City in the Championship where he impressed, inspiring interest from multiple clubs across Europe.

The 21-year-old midfielder will likely be on the fringes of Arne Slot’s squad, but will look to show what he can do in pre-season to earn a more prominent role.

Morton joined Liverpool aged seven, having turned down an offer to join rivals Everton, and made his senior debut against Norwich in 2021.

He has since spent time out on loan at Blackburn Rovers, before his spell with Hull last season where he made 41 appearances, scoring three goals and providing five assists from midfield.

He signed a new long-term contract at Liverpool in 2021 which will take his stay through to 2026, but the club could look to cash in early and raise funds.

Reports have linked the likes of Sevilla, RB Leipzig and Frankfurt with a move for the midfielder this summer, with his place at Anfield uncertain.

Liverpool are yet to act in the transfer market in terms of incoming deals, with Slot and new transfer chiefs Richard Hughes and Michael Edwards happy with the state of the squad.

Football Insider revealed on 1 July that the club is already working on three first-team signings behind the scenes at Anfield.

In other news, three key Liverpool players could leave the club for free.
