Liverpool player ratings v Crystal Palace – Andy Robertson shines, 2/10 flop loses 10 of 15 duels

Liverpool suffered a huge blow in their Premier League title hopes as they lost 1-0 to Crystal Palace on Sunday (14 April).

Eberechi Eze was the hero for the visitors as he netted the only goal of the match after just 14 minutes, silencing the home fans.

Football Insider rates the Liverpool players out of 10 for their performances at Anfield as the Reds suffered back-to-back home defeats.

Alisson [6]

Star goalkeeper Alisson returned from a lengthy injury spell to start against Palace, to the delight of his manager, teammates and Reds fans. The Brazilian was called into action from the very start, but dealt with the pressure well from the first to last minutes, making three saves throughout the match.

Conor Bradley [4]

The young Northern Ireland ace continued to deputise for Trent Alexander-Arnold at right-back, with the latter starting on the bench after his injury struggles. The former wasn’t on top form, however, with Bradley completing just 68% of his passes before going off injured early in the second half.

Ibrahima Konate [4]

Konate will be disappointed with his defensive efforts, with the opening goal coming far too easily for his or his manager’s liking. The centre-back did recover somewhat following Eze’s opener, but will be disappointed at the lack of clean sheet on home soil.

Virgil van Dijk [5]

Van Dijk is another who will be hugely frustrated with his performance against Palace, with the defender making many errors throughout the match, which isn’t common for the Dutch star.

Andy Robertson [8]

Robertson started brightly against the Eagles with his iconic lung-bursting runs forward from left-back, with that energy sustained throughout the 90 minutes as the Scotland ace made four key passes.

Liverpool

Curtis Jones [2]

The midfielder made his first Premier League start since mid-February after a lengthy battle with injury. But his lack of match fitness was evident, with Jones struggling to keep up with the Eagles midfield as he lost 10 of his 15 duels in a disastrous display.

Wataru Endo [6]

Endo was his usual assured self in midfield, with the summer signing keeping possession ticking over and breaking up Palace attacks, often doing the dirty work to allow Jones and Alexis Mac Allister to be more creative. He won four of his five duels but was the unlucky one to be withdrawn at half-time.

Alexis Mac Allister [3]

The Argentine star will be very disappointed with his efforts in midfield, with Mac Allister nowhere near his best on and off the ball as the 25-year-old lost possession 24 times, more than any other player on the pitch.

Mohamed Salah [3]

Salah was kept quiet for the entire game by a resolute Palace defence, frustratingly unable to find a way through at Anfield in a very underwhelming display, with his finishing below par.

Darwin Nunez [6]

Nunez was as chaotic as ever in the final third, with the attacker a constant threat to the Palace defence as he won all three of his ground duels, but disappointingly failed to find the back of the net.

Liverpool

Luis Diaz [4]

Diaz was full of energy as he did his utmost to try and break down the Eagles defence, but like Nunez, the winger failed to make a lasting impact on the match before being withdrawn just after the hour mark.
