Liverpool players may have downed tools under Arne Slot after ‘worrying’ update
Arne Slot is facing growing pressure on his position as Liverpool manager and is struggling to get performances out of his best players.
Liverpool travel to face West Ham on 30 November in desperate need of a turnaround after heavy defeats to Nottingham Forest and PSV over the last week.
As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the players’ lack of fight, desire and confidence has begun to impact the supporters with things heading south very quickly in recent results at Anfield.
This comes after Curtis Jones publicly called upon his teammates to show some fight in the wake of their midweek Champions League defeat.
Football Insider revealed on 28 November that Liverpool could sack Slot before Christmas if he fails to show an immediate turnaround in results and performances.
‘Worrying’ signs for Liverpool amid Arne Slot sack pressure
Mick Brown told Football Insider on 27 November that Slot is facing growing problems at Liverpool, the biggest of which is the downturn in his star players’ displays.
The likes of Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Alexander Isak have been heavily criticised for their displays, with their declining performances raised as major concerns.
Recent results and performance have shown “worrying” signs for the manager and players, with serious questions being asked of their commitment.
Speaking on the Inside Track podcast, I explained: “Slot said after the defeat to PSV, he feels he still has the backing of the Liverpool hierarchy, but no doubt he is fighting for his job.
“He’s presiding over the worst run for Liverpool in 71 years, with three big consecutive losses by a margin of three goals or more.
“It’s been a real worrying time for Liverpool and especially Arne Slot. You’d have to even raise question marks about the heart and desire of the team right now as well.

“It seems there’s a lack of fight amongst the players, which is hard to see.
“It just looks like confidence has evaporated from the team and it seems like it’s filtering through to the supporters as well who are losing a bit of confidence in Slot and the players.“
Mohamed Salah among players gathering ‘concern’
Brown told Football Insider on 23 October that Slot is concerned about key players at Liverpool, including Salah and Van Dijk, as a result of their drop in form.
While a number of players are receiving heaving criticism, Salah is coming under particular scrutiny, with questions being asked of his performances.
This comes after Football Insider revealed on 24 October that Salah has a “problem” at Liverpool as he is struggling to turn in consistently impressive displays.

Football Insider revealed on 25 November that Liverpool’s hierarchy are backing Slot to turn things around despite what has been a nightmare campaign so far.
However, should results and performances from their key players fail to improve, they could be forced into a decision regarding the manager’s future.
