Liverpool squad facing major hurdle after Fabinho’s dressing room reveal – pundit

Alan Hutton has suggested Liverpool face a mental battle ahead of a daunting run of fixtures both domestically and in Europe.

The former Scotland international, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the Reds will be tested both physically and mentally over the coming weeks.

Speaking to French broadcaster Canal+ after Saturday’s win (2 April), as relayed by Get French Football News, Fabinho, 28, revealed the Liverpool dressing room are saying “we’re only playing finals” from now until the end of the season.

The Reds face Benfica tonight before playing Manchester City in a top-of-the-table league clash on Sunday.

Hutton admitted the trip to the Etihad would be Liverpool’s “biggest” final of all.

However, he insisted the run of games would test Jurgen Klopp’s men in numerous ways.

Asked if Liverpool’s upcoming run of games would be a mental battle as much as a physical one, Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “Of course it is. However, they’ve been there, seen it and done it.

“They understand what they need to do and they’re a squad packed full of talent.

“I think the biggest cup final will be on the 10th April when they play Man City. If they can get through that and actually be top of the league in their own right, then you’ve got something to chase.

“Then you’ve got something to keep on top of. They can do it, they’re more than capable of going on winning runs. Looking at the games that they’ve got left, it’s not an easy run.

“I understand why he’s coming out and speaking about it, it’s tough. But I think if anybody can do, Liverpool and Man City are the two teams that can go on winning runs.”
