Liverpool staff ‘in trouble’ after confirmed Jurgen Klopp news – pundit

Frank McAvennie has claimed someone will be “in trouble” at Liverpool after Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s injury mix up.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker said Klopp doesn’t “look happy”.

As quoted by the Independent (26 October), the Reds boss said he received incorrect advice over the fitness of Keita and Oxlade-Chamberlain and left them out of the squad for Champions League group stages as a result.

The Merseysiders chose to leave out the midfield pair from the 24-man squad named in September as they believed neither would be fit for all six matches.

However, Oxlade-Chamberlain has been fit enough to make the bench for the Reds two recent Premier League games and Keita has also resumed training.

McAvennie couldn’t understand the decision to leave the pair out of the squad.

Somebody is getting in trouble for that one,” he told Football Insider.

The fitness team said he would not be ready so they did not put him in the squad for the Champions League. It is a strange, strange decision.

They have got so many injuries and they finally have a player who is fit and they can’t play him. Everyone was saying he is leaving but now it is a fitness issue and Klopp did not look happy.

Neither player will be eligible for the Reds’ final Champions League game against Napoli.

But, Klopp’s men guaranteed a place in the last 16 with a 3-0 win over Ajax on Wednesday (26 October).

In other news, Kieran Maguire has claimed Liverpool are in line for ‘bigger slice of the pie’ as £5bn-plus windfall on cards.
