Liverpool news: Medical expert issues verdict on Roberto Firmino return after confirmed news
Roberto Firmino could feature in the squad for Liverpool against Inter Milan tonight (8 March) – but it would be wise to leave him out.
That is the view of injury expert Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in medicine and data analysis.
Firmino has missed Liverpool’s last four matches, including the League Cup final against Chelsea, with a hamstring issue.

As quoted by The Athletic yesterday (7 March), Jurgen Klopp confirmed that the Brazilian forward returned to training the previous day.
Dinnery suggests that Firmino could feature in tonight’s last-16 second leg but that it would be smarter for Klopp to leave the 30-year-old out.
“He’s had one full session,” he told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.
“But it was on the eve of a game when you’re not really doing too much in training.
“There is a possibility that he could be in the squad. It certainly won’t be a start. He’s nowhere near that.
“Would it make more sense to leave him out altogether? They have Salah, Mane, Diaz, Origi, Jota all vying for those places.
“The thing is, they all have more match fitness and sharpness than Firmino.
“I could easily see Klopp keeping him out of the matchday squad and focusing on getting a few more days of training in his legs ahead of the weekend.“

Liverpool lead Inter by 2-0 on aggregate going into tonight’s clash at Anfield.
Firmino scored in the reverse leg, which was his eighth goal in 24 appearances this term.
