Medical insider reveals Jordan Henderson return date amid ‘surprise’ Liverpool claim

It would be a major surprise if injured Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson is not ready to return to action after the international break.

That is the view of medical expert Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in injury and data analysis.

Henderson, 32, has missed Liverpool’s last three matches in all competitions, including last Wednesday’s (7 September) 4-1 humiliation at the hands of Napoli.

As quoted by The Independent last Friday (2 September), Reds boss Jurgen Klopp revealed that they were “still waiting for the results” of an MRI scan to determine the injury’s severity.

The Merseysiders have struggled with injuries in midfield of late, with Curtis Jones, Thiago Alcantara, Alex Oxlade- Chamberlain and Naby Keita all spending time on the sidelines.

Their first match after the international break comes against Brighton on 1 October.

Dinnery expects Henderson to be fully healed by that date.

“We’re expecting a return in the first week back after the international break,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.

“That is in and around that three-week period. On the scale of hamstring problems, it’s fairly minor. It’s probably high-end grade one. I don’t think it’s a bad one.

“It would be a surprise if it was any longer than that original prognosis.

He is not expected to go away with the England squad but I’d expect him to be back in action immediately after that upcoming international break.”
