Liverpool star Mac Allister’s message reacted to by exit-linked Nunez and Diaz
Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister is preparing for clashes against his club teammates amid the current international break.
Having suffered the disappointment of being knocked out of the Champions League at the hands of PSG, and then losing the Carabao Cup final to Newcastle, it has been a difficult week for Liverpool.
The high-flying Premier League table-toppers had genuine aspirations of a potential treble, in Arne Slot’s first season in charge at Anfield, but it seems they will have to settle for the prize of a Premier League trophy this season.
However, despite the miserable week for Liverpool, their star players have jetted off around the world to turn out for their national teams, and a number of them will face each other this week for their countries.

Alexis Mac Allister ‘focused’ ahead of clashes with Alisson and Darwin Nunez
Argentina and Mac Allister are preparing to defend their World Cup title from 2022, and that starts with qualifying for the tournament set to be hosted in the USA, Mexico, and Canada, in 2026.
They currently sit top of the CONMEBOL World Cup qualifying table on 25 points, and a win against second-placed Uruguay, or a struggling Brazil, will guarantee their spot in North America next year.
Argentina fixtures | Date | Competition |
Uruguay (A) | 21 March | CONMEBOL World Cup qualifiers |
Brazil (H) | 26 March | CONMEBOL World Cup qualifiers |
However, Mac Allister and his Argentinean compatriots will have the tough task of going up against Darwin Nunez in their match against Uruguay on 21 March, and then against Liverpool’s in-form Alisson and his Brazil side on 26 March.
Ahead of the games, the Liverpool midfielder posted a series of photos in training for the World Cup holders on Instagram, captioned: “Enfocados en lo que viene”, which translates to: “Focused on what’s coming”.
The post was liked by Nunez and Barcelona target Luis Diaz, showing support for their teammate.
Darwin Nunez could be on his way out of Liverpool in summer move
Football Insider Verdict
Following a blocked January move to the Saudi Pro League by Slot, Nunez is expected to leave Liverpool this summer, Pete O’Rourke told Football Insider exclusively.
The Uruguayan striker joined the Reds in 2022 for £64million [BBC Sport], but has endured a difficult time on Merseyside.
The former Benfica man has shown flashes of brilliance in his time at Anfield, but has failed to find the consistency that is needed to the top level.
As a consequence, the 25-year-old has been limited to just eight Premier League starts this season, with Slot preferring Cody Gakpo, Diogo Jota and even Diaz in the number nine position, ahead of the Uruguayan striker.
The international break has come at a welcome time for Nunez, who has generally performed well for his national team, as he looks to impress any potential suitors ahead of a summer move.
