Liverpool star Naby Keita backed to finalise move to Bundesliga club after talks reveal – pundit

Alan Hutton has suggested returning to Germany would be a good move for Naby Keita if he leaves Liverpool.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender said that Keita will struggle for game time next season if he stays at Anfield.

The 28-year-old’s current contract expires in the summer and according to Fabrizio Romano (4 March), there are currently no talks between the club and player over a new deal and could leave for free at the end of the season.

According to German outlet SportBild (28 February), Borussia Dortmund and former club RB Leipzig are keen to sign the midfielder for free in the summer.

Keita has made just 13 appearances for Jurgen Klopp’s side across all competitions this season.

The Merseysiders are keen to bring in reinforcements in the midfield in what is set to be a big summer window for the club.

When asked if returning to Germany would be a good move for Keita, Hutton told Football Insider:For him personally yes.

If he is going to go and play week in, week out it is a good standard of football.

Liverpool

The teams play in the Champions League so I think it would be a good move. If Liverpool are going to go and spend big money on midfield the opportunity of playing there is going to be slim.

Coming to the end of the contract, moving somewhere else, maybe means that they will meet his wage demands. Financially it could be good for him so it is definitely something he will look at in the summer.
