Liverpool star ready to turn his back on Arne Slot as Inter Milan to provide ‘perfect’ escape route
Arne Slot is potentially about to see a senior Liverpool star turn his back on him and jump ship in the January transfer window.
The pressure is continuing to build on the Dutchman after his team were comprehensively beaten 3-0 at home by Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
Former Manchester United scout Mick Brown told Football Insider on Monday that Slot is now facing “serious questions” at Liverpool regarding his position, with the Reds now languishing in 11th place in the table.
The Anfield outfit will be desperate to try and address the issues in their squad in January, but they could be about to lose players before they can bring any through the door.

Federico Chiesa ready to quit Liverpool amid Serie A transfer race
Football Insider exclusively revealed back in October that Liverpool were set to keep hold of Federico Chiesa in January, despite the lack of football that he has received.
The Italy international is still yet to start a single Premier League game so far in 2025-26, as his nightmare spell on Merseyside has continued into the new campaign.
However, despite Liverpool altering their stance on his future recently, Chiesa appears to be in no doubt as to where he sees himself long-term.
The winger has been on the periphery of Slot’s squad once again, and he is now ready to turn his back on the boss, as his current situation is “pushing him” to consider his future at Anfield this winter, according to Tutto Juve.
The Italian outlet understands that his lack of regular involvement is set to put his place in Gennaro Gattuso’s national team at risk ahead of next summer’s World Cup.
Chiesa’s name is “strongly back in fashion” in Serie A, where Inter Milan, Napoli, Roma and AC Milan are all “closely monitoring” his situation ahead of January.

Inter in particular, have desired a winger with strong ball-carrying ability, and it is believed that the San Siro outfit view the Liverpool star as the “perfect” fit for that role.
Chiesa hasn’t played more than 30 minutes in any Premier League game in 2025-26
Chiesa has become the forgotten man at Liverpool at times during his time in the Premier League, and that looks unlikely to change any time soon.
The former Juventus star is yet to play more than 30 minutes in a single league game so far this season, and he has managed a staggeringly low total of just 148 minutes so far.
Jeremie Frimpong, Joe Gomez and Wataru Endo are the only senior players who have featured less in league action so far.
As a result, it is perfectly understandable for Chiesa to be considering his future ahead of the upcoming window, especially considering that his international involvement is potentially on the line.
The wideman looks set to become the first senior player to turn his back on Slot this winter, and he may not be the last if results don’t improve.
