Liverpool news: Medical expert issues ‘very serious’ claim as boozy Andy Robertson footage emerges

Liverpool star Andy Robertson takes his responsibilities with the national team “very seriously” and should not be castigated for enjoying a drink at the end of a draining domestic season.

That is the view of injury expert Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in medicine and data analysis.

Roberson was seen drinking alongside teammates in footage posted by Liverpool’s media team during the FA Cup and League Cup parade last Sunday (29 May).

The 28-year-old is in action against Ukraine in the World Cup qualifying play-off semi-final on Wednesday (1 May), 72 hours after the celebrations on Merseyside.

As relayed by the Daily Mail on Monday (30 May), some Scotland fans were unhappy with their skipper’s behaviour in the build-up to the clash at Hampden Park.

But Dinnery insists that Scotland boss Steve Clarke will be unconcerned about the defender’s ability to perform.

“Andy Robertson comes across as a guy who is supremely proud to represent his national team,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.

“He will be doing his utmost to ensure that Scotland go through against Ukraine. For me, let’s judge the player after the game.

“Robertson takes his lifestyle away from the pitch very seriously. But unfortunately, that’s where we are with social media at the moment. People are easy targets.

“Steve Clarke won’t question the fact that Robertson is a brilliant professional.”

Liverpool’s parade took place the day after they lost 1-0 to Real Madrid in the Champions League final.

Robertson labelled Uefa’s handling of the event a “shambles” after the chaotic scenes outside the Stade de France, as quoted by BBC Sport after the match.
