Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold in ‘a race to the finish’ amid ‘incredible’ claim – pundit
Paul Robinson has claimed Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold has “the best opportunity” to nail down a starting spot for England over the next few months.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Spurs and Three Lions number one suggested the 22-year-old will be a starter at the World Cup if he begins the season well.
Alexander-Arnold was one of Liverpool’s standout performers in the 2021-22 campaign.

As per WhoScored (22 July), the right-back made the most key passes (90) of any defender in Europe’s top five leagues.
The England international has enjoyed a full pre-season with Jurgen Klopp’s staff, with the World Cup to be played this winter.
When asked by Football Insider for his assessment of Alexander-Arnold’s international prospects, Robinson said: “Listen, he has a real opportunity.
“He has had a full pre-season under his belt. He has not fitness concerns or issues so he should start the new season well.
“If he does that he has a real opportunity to be starting for England at the World Cup. It is a race to the finish line for a lot of players.
“Trent has the best opportunity he has had for a long time to make that right-back position his own. The competition for it is incredible.
“He is an all-round full-back. The only thing you can question at times is his defensive capabilities.
“But what he gives you offensively… His delivery and record on set plays is there for all to see.”
