Liverpool stars having ‘sleepless nights’ as ‘massive’ claim issued – pundit
The Liverpool players will be having “sleepless nights” after only finishing the season with two trophies, according to Alex McLeish.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Birmingham City, Rangers and Scotland manager insisted Liverpool are good enough to compete on all four fronts again next season.
The Reds took the 2021-22 Premier League title race to the final day and lost the Champions League final 1-0 to Real Madrid last week (28 May).
They still won both domestic cups by beating Chelsea in penalty shootouts in both finals.
They went on an open-top bus parade the day after the Champions League final defeat to celebrate that fact.
As quoted by club media, Jordan Henderson described the scenes as “incredible” as he admitted he was unsure how it would feel following the disappointment in Paris.
“Listen, they’ve just got to get on with it,” McLeish told Football Insider deputy editor Russell Edge.
“They’re good enough to get other finals next season and be challenging for the league again, of course they will.
“Deep down, you always feel it when you don’t win these big league titles. You definitely have sleepless nights.
“The players are such a professional bunch and are at the highest level of football. They will definitely be hurting, t’s difficult to put it to bed.”
“Unfortunately that was too massive final games, the one in the league and the Champions League final.”

Jurgen Klopp has now won every major domestic trophy on offer as Liverpool manager.
The only competition he has not won as Reds boss is the Europa League and the Community Shield.
