Liverpool stars ‘privately underwhelmed’ by Arne Slot appointment – sources
Liverpool senior stars are privately underwhelmed by the appointment of Arne Slot, sources have told Football Insider.
Football Insider revealed on 27 April that the Merseysiders have agreed to pay Feyenoord nearly £10million in compensation to bring Slot to Anfield.
The Dutchman, who has publicly all but confirmed his imminent move to the Premier League giants , will be joined by assistant manager Sipke Hulshoff, head of performance Ruben Peeters and analyst Etienne Reijnen at Liverpool.
However, it is believed senior Reds stars were not consulted on the appointment by Fenway Sports Group or new CEO of Football Michael Edwards.
Sources say the reaction to Slot’s imminent arrival in the dressing room has been “lukewarm”.
The response to the appointment could be problematic for the incoming boss, who will need to rise above any backlash to win the changing room over in the early part of his Liverpool tenure.
