Liverpool teammates aiming digs at Mohamed Salah amid behind-the-scenes reveal – pundit

Frank McAvennie has claimed Mohamed Salah’s Liverpool teammates will have been “winding him up” about his lack of goals in the 9-0 demolition of Bournemouth last Saturday (27 August).

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker said the 30-year-old will have taken the good-natured digs in the spirit intended.

There were six different goalscorers for the Reds in the victory at Anfield, but Salah was not one of them.

The Liverpool Echo reported on Sunday (28 August) that the forward cheekily declined to give an interview in the mixed zone after the clash, quipping: “No, I didn’t score any.”

The Egypt international has netted twice in four games in the Premier League so far this season.

When asked if Salah will be disappointed with his lack of involvement in the historic victory over the Cherries, McAvennie told Football Insider: “He’ll be laughing about it.

I remember we were doing so well at West Ham, I was scoring every week. We played against Newcastle and we were winning 7-0 and I hadn’t scored. It just shows you, other players were scoring that don’t normally.

It’s good to see other players scoring and that will be no different for Liverpool. The boys that very rarely score will be winding him up about it so it will be good fun in the dressing room.

Salah made 51 appearances for Liverpool across all competitions last season.

During those outings, he scored 31 goals and provided 16 assists.
