Joe Gomez delivers Instagram message following Liverpool comeback
By Emma Sanders
Joe Gomez posted an encouraging message on Instagram after he made an appearance in a behind-closed-doors friendly at Melwood on Sunday afternoon.
The 19 year-old played 45 minutes as a half-time substitute during the 5-0 victory against League Two side, Accrington Stanley.
Gomez has been out of action for over 13 months after picking up a serious ACL injury at the start of the 2015-16 season and admitted it felt great to put the Liverpool shirt on yet again.
The youngster joined Liverpool in 2015 from Charlton Athletic and is yet to make an appearance under Jurgen Klopp despite the manager praising Gomez on a number of occasions since his arrival.
Under Brendan Rodgers, Gomez was thrust into the Liverpool team as a left-back, despite learning his trade as a central defender but was impressive during a handful of appearances.
He played eight games for the Reds, including five Premier League starts before picking up the knee injury and has suffered set-backs during his recovery this summer.
