Liverpool ‘tempted’ to accept Alexis Mac Allister offer amid contract stalemate
Liverpool are “tempted” by the idea of cashing in on midfielder Alexis Mac Allister this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
The Argentine’s talks with the club regarding a potential new contract have reached a stalemate, and both Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid are ready to try and take advantage of that.
The 27-year-old is viewed as a “saleable asset” at Anfield ahead of next season, with sources indicating that the Reds are likely to cash in on a few of their players in order to fund new additions.
Mac Allister is seen as a prime candidate for that eventuality, especially since both Madrid sides are expected to be capable of paying a significant amount for him.
Liverpool are facing a rebuild this summer ahead of several key departures, and Mac Allister could yet be sacrificed in order to facilitate that.

Liverpool have endured a challenging season on the pitch this term, although they now look well-placed to ensure their qualification for next year’s Champions League.
There have been question marks surrounding several members of the first-team squad in recent months, and Andy Robertson and Mohamed Salah have both already confirmed their exits at the end of the season.

However, that could be far from the full extent of the player turnover that Arne Slot and his staff have to deal with.
Football Insider revealed last weekend that Mac Allister could form part of a seven-man exodus at Anfield, alongside the likes of Curtis Jones and Joe Gomez.
Federico Chiesa’s future is also up in the air heading into the summer, while a solution is set to be sought for Harvey Elliott, whose loan at Aston Villa has far from gone to plan this term.
A lighter summer of spending is expected compared to the Merseysiders’ summer splurge last time around, but there is still an intention for any departing players to be adequately replaced.
Liverpool to be forced into unwanted striker addition
Liverpool already had plenty on their plate in terms of a potential rebuild of their squad ahead of next season, and Hugo Ekitike’s injury has now added yet another task for them to complete when the window opens.
The Frenchman sustained a serious Achilles injury in the second leg of the Champions League clash with PSG, and he has already been ruled out of the World Cup this summer.
Football Insider revealed last week that Ekitike’s injury will force Liverpool into the market for a new striker, with Slot and the recruitment team now concerned about the lack of depth at the top of the pitch.
Alexander Isak is currently the only fit number nine in the first-team squad, and he has only recently returned from a lengthy injury lay-off of his own.
As a result, the Reds are set to try and bring in a replacement for Ekitike while he recovers, to ensure that they aren’t stretched too thinly in the early stages of next season.
