Liverpool tipped to accept £10m Phillips bid after Newcastle offer update – pundit
Noel Whelan has tipped Liverpool to accept a £10million bid for Nat Phillips ahead of Monday’s transfer deadline amid interest from Newcastle United and West Ham.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Leeds striker insisted an eight-figure fee would be fair for the 24-year-old.
As reported by the Independent on Wednesday (26 January), two Premier League sides are considering a late move for Phillips, although Liverpool will not sell on the cheap.

The Reds have reportedly rejected a loan-to-buy offer from Newcastle after Football Insider revealed (7 January) Watford had a £7million bid knocked back.
As detailed by this site, West Ham were laying the groundwork over a potential move back in November.
Football Insider also revealed (11 January) Liverpool are prepared to let Phillips head out on loan if their £12million price tag is not met.
However, Whelan believes £10million could seal the deal.
Whelan told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “He belongs to Liverpool, they value him at a certain price. That price will have to be met by a respective club if they want Nat Phillips’ services.
“He’s had a bit of experience in the Premier League, you can see that he’s a very good player, he’s young, good age about him. I think £10million, for me, would probably see the deal over the line.
“You could probably go in with £7million with some add-ons. That’s what clubs tend to do these days, when it comes down to younger players, with those incentives.
“I think around about the £10million mark wouldn’t be an unfair price to pay for a player of that quality.”

Phillips has played just four times this season.
He is contracted at Anfield until 2025.
