Liverpool tipped to beat Man City to Jude Bellingham after Merseyside journalist’s reveal – pundit
Frank McAvennie is adamant Jude Bellingham will choose Liverpool over Man City.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker said Bellingham is not guaranteed a regular starting spot at the Etihad.
According to journalist James Pearce, reported in the Athletic (21 September), Pep Guardiola’s side still retain a strong interest in the 19-year-old.
Liverpool, Real Madrid, Chelsea and Man United are all keen on a move for the England international.
Borussia Dortmund are said to value Bellingham at over £130million.
If he goes for that fee it would make him the most expensive footballer in British history.
When asked by Football Insider for his assessment of the latest, McAvennie said: “He won’t go to City.
“He’s not guaranteed a first team start there. A player like Bellingham needs to play. If he goes to Liverpool he’ll go straight in the team.
“A player like Bellingham needs to feel wanted. He needs to play, he needs to feel loved, he’s not going to get that at Man City, when you’ve got [Kevin] De Bruyne and players like that in midfield. Jack Grealish went there for £100million and he’s not getting a game every week, he never missed a game at Aston Villa.

“He’s not going to play all the time. Unless he’s happy to go there and sit around, but I don’t think he’ll do that. I think he’ll want to play every week because that’s what he’s doing at Dortmund.
“I would rule out Man City. No matter how much money they offer you, they can’t guarantee a first team start, there’s too many players there. Only De Bruyne and [Erling] Haaland are guaranteed a start. I just can’t see him starting every game if he goes to Man City so I would rule it out.“
In other news, a pundit can’t believe Man City could axe Riyad Mahrez as new quotes emerge.
