Liverpool tipped to hijack Adeyemi talks after Romano update – pundit

Kevin Phillips has tipped Liverpool to hijack Borussia Dortmund’s talks to sign Karim Adeyemi from RB Salzburg.

The former Sunderland striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 19-year-old could be a “real asset for years to come”.

According to Fabrizio Romano (14 December), Liverpool have approached Adeyemi over a potential move to Anfield.

However, he claims Borussia Dortmund are already in talks with Salzburg over a fee, having agreed personal terms with the winger.

As quoted by Anfield Watch on Monday (13 December), Klopp hailed Adeyemi “one of the most exciting attacking wingers in football”.

When asked if Adeyemi could be a success at Anfield, Phillips told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs: “Definitely. He fits the mould for that Liverpool front line.

“He can score goals, create goals, he’s quick – and it’s certainly clear that whoever comes into that attack will develop even further under Jurgen Klopp.

“And for Klopp to come out and say that he’s one of the most exciting talents in Europe certainly means there’s a lot of clubs who will be chasing him. But I think Liverpool stand a very good chance to get him in and could hijack the deal.

“It’s just whether the kid wants to leave in January knowing he may not walk straight into the side.

“From Liverpool’s point of view, they know they’re getting a good, young player who can be a real asset for a number of years to come.”
