Liverpool tipped to seal 'phenomenal' Salah deal 'soon' after 'huge' update - Whelan
Noel Whelan has backed Liverpool to agree a new contract with Mohamed Salah “soon” as Jurgen Klopp pushes his bosses to get a deal done.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Leeds striker insisted the Anfield outfit would be “stupid” not to at least come close to the 29-year-old’s demands.
A Liverpool source has told Football Insider (21st October) Klopp is putting “huge” pressure on the board to get Salah tied down.
The German is not willing to lose the Egypt international over a contract dispute.
Salah is holding out for a deal that would make him the Reds’ highest-ever paid player.
FSG have been reluctant to hand a player heading into their 30s such a lucrative deal.

However, their stance has softened under pressure from Klopp.
As revealed by Football Insider last week, Liverpool put together a package worth £350,000-a-week including bonuses.
With Klopp a driving force behind negotiations, Whelan insisted the deal should be done “sooner rather than later”.
Whelan told Football Insider’s Russell Edge. “I think it will be done. I don’t think there’ll be any question of that.
“They know that the fans absolutely adore, they know the performances he’s putting in right now. The way he’s playing, he’s the best player in the world, no doubt about that.
“The goals he is scoring are absolutely phenomenal. They’re individual, it’s just quality, class and belief in his own ability. Some of the goals he’s scored the last couple of weeks have been just ridiculous really.
“He’s only on a par with Messi and the best players in the world. I think the deal will be done. I think they’ll give anything that he needs and wants because they’d be stupid not to, quite frankly.
“You’re not going to get another player like Mo Salah, who’s that consistent, that brilliant and gets you winning football matches.
“He is Mr Liverpool right now and I think that deal will be done sooner rather than later. Whatever it is he’s wanting, they’d be stupid not to give him.”
In other news, Liverpool are working on a “fabulous” £20million signing for a player Klopp “absolutely loves”.
