Liverpool tipped to snub Raphinha and sign ‘sensational’ Englishman instead – pundit

Liverpool could snub the chance to sign Raphinha from Leeds United in favour of a move for West Ham star Jarrod Bowen, according to Kevin Campbell.

The former Arsenal striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the 25-year-old Englishman could have the “edge” due to his versatility.

According to the Liverpool Echo (26 December), West Ham star Bowen and Leeds United winger Raphinha are “players of interest” for Liverpool as they target attacking reinforcements ahead of the summer window.

Both players have contributed greatly to the success of their sides this term, grabbing goals and assists primarily from wide areas.

Campbell suggested Liverpool will face stiff competition for Brazil international Raphinha.

The ex-striker claimed Bowen could be the more attractive option for that reason.

“They’re not going to be the only team in for Raphinha,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.

“The likes of Bayern Munich are hot on him, so that won’t be a gimmie.

“Jarrod Bowen is a sensational player. He can play on both sides and through the middle. That could give him the edge in Jurgen Klopp’s thinking – we know how much he loves that fluidity.

“Raphinha is brilliant, but they’ll face so much opposition. For that reason, Bowen could be more ideal.”

West Ham star Bowen has netted three goals and registered nine assists this term.

Raphinha has contributed to a staggering 50% of Leeds United’s Premier League strikes this season, registering eight goals and one assist.
