Liverpool to ‘act quickly’ to get ‘different class’ man tied down to new contract
Liverpool are preparing to offer a key man at the club a new contract as the Reds prepare to defend their Premier League title.
Virgil van Dijk and Mo Salah were two stars to extend their deals at Anfield last season, as the Reds claimed their second Premier League crown.
Arsenal’s 2-0 win against West Ham means the Gunners currently lead the Premier League table by a point after Liverpool won the league by a 10-point margin last season.
Liverpool’s 2-1 defeat at Chelsea made it three defeats in a row for the Reds before the international break with goalkeeper Alisson out injured.

Liverpool want to offer Arne Slot a new deal
Arne Slot joined Liverpool on a three-year contract in 2024, and the club want to ensure that he does not enter the final year of his deal.
The Daily Mail [9 October] report that a new contract for Slot is a priority with Liverpool wanting to “act quickly” to sort out the situation.
Slot has been described as “different class” by former Rangers striker Ally McCoist, as per talkSPORT.
Liverpool currently have Ibrahima Konate and Andy Robinson in the final years of their contract, with the former heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid.
Slot’s Liverpool career analysed
Slot had a remarkable first season in English football, and following a summer of heavy investment, the Dutchman is looking to back it up with more silverware in his second campaign.
The Reds could have won the League Cup had they not lost to Newcastle in the final, and they were only beaten on penalties by eventual winners PSG in the Champions League.

More progress will be expected in the FA Cup after their shock defeat to Plymouth last season, and with the firepower at Slot’s disposal the manager has no excuses.
Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak have yet to kickstart their Liverpool career’s, but Hugo Ekitike has made a promising start to life at Anfield.
Going without a trophy may be seen by some as a failure for Slot, so he is under more pressure this time around.
