Liverpool to announce record-breaking deal after agreement – sources

Liverpool have agreed a new five-year kit deal with Adidas that is set to be worth more than £60million a season and the biggest in the club’s history.

Sources with knowledge of the situation have confirmed to Football Insider that the club will switch suppliers at the end of the 2024-25 campaign when their five-year agreement with Nike ends.

In a tender process for a five‑year contract Adidas beat off competition from Nike and Puma to be associated with Liverpool for the first time since 2012.

Liverpool are said to believe it will bring their kit earnings into line with Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea, who all receive £60m-£65m from deals with Adidas, Puma and Nike respectively.

The Premier League record is the £90m a season received by Manchester United from Adidas.

Under the terms of the Nike deal, the American company have paid Liverpool a guaranteed £30million a year, plus a 20 per cent royalty on net sales of club products.

With commercial tie-ins, performance‑related bonuses and 20% royalty payments on net sales of replica sportswear, promoted by people such as the basketball star and Liverpool shareholder LeBron James, the total can be closer to £60m a season.

The Adidas deal is believed to be an uplift on the current agreement, although incentives are built in and the final figure will be shaped by shirt sales and performance on the pitch.

Liverpool have had two previous spells with Adidas — from 1985 to 1996 and 2006 to 2012.

In other news, Liverpool could now sign an England international in a stunning ‘£40m’ deal.
