Kieran Maguire: Liverpool to bank £6m as seven deals announced – ‘Hats off to them’
Liverpool will again bank close to £5.9million from the Premier League’s central commercial pot next term.
That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the top-flight’s new radio broadcast arrangements for the next three seasons.
The Premier League announced on Monday (9 May) that it has sold seven UK rights packages to the BBC and talkSPORT at the same rate as the previous set of three-year deals.
Liverpool’s accounts for 2020-21 showed that media income made up £266.1m of their £487m total revenue.
And Maguire claims that the Premier League’s impressive achievement in rolling over the radio rights means the Merseysiders will rake in around £5.9m from the central pot once more next season.
“They don’t move the dial when compared to the value of the TV deals,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.
“But in terms of what happens with the radio money, that goes into the central commercial pot. It also includes central advertising deals signed by the Premier League.
“Clubs make £5.9m each from that. Those figures are freely available but it is difficult to separate out the radio impact from that.
“If it is renewed at the same price as the last deal, hats off to them.”

Liverpool were crowned FA Cup champions for the eighth time in their history with a penalty shootout victor over Chelsea on Saturday (14 May).
Jurgen Klopp’s side also face Real Madrid in the Champions League final in Paris later this month (28 May).
