Liverpool to do the ‘impossible’ by signing A-list Sadio Mane replacement – pundit

Alan Hutton has tipped Liverpool to do the “impossible” by replacing Sadio Mane with a new signing this summer.

However, the former Scotland international, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the Reds would have to dig deep in their pockets to fund a move for the 30-year-old’s successor.

As reported by the Daily Mail (29 May), Mane is eyeing up a move out of Anfield this summer, with Liverpool slapping a £35million-plus price tag on his head.

The Senegal attacker is reportedly interested in a move to Bayern Munich as the German giants consider launching a raid.

Hutton insisted £35million for a 30-year-old who is out of contract next summer would be “good business”.

However, he admitted signing a replacement could cost a hefty fee.

Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: It would be good business if they could get £35million in for him, a 30-year-old.

“He’s been a great servant to the club over the years, he’s got a lot of goals. Their recruitment has been very good, they’re looking at the future. They keep replacing these guys, even when you think it’s impossible for them to do so.

“That being said, you have to replace him with someone. Nowadays, with the prices and the values of different players around the world, that’s going to cost a lot of money.

“We’ll have to wait and see but I still think £35million for a 30-year-old is good money.”

Mane has scored 120 goals in 269 appearances for Liverpool across all competitions.

He netted 23 times in 51 games during the 2021/22 campaign.
