Expert: Liverpool to fight for ‘compensation’ as ‘dangerous’ injustice revealed
Liverpool will continue to back their fans who are fighting for compensation from Uefa following the events of the 2021-22 Champions League final in Paris.
That is the view of medical expert Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in injury and data analysis.
Supporters were tear gassed and pepper sprayed seemingly at random ahead of Liverpool’s eventual 1-0 defeat to Real Madrid at the Stade de France in May.

Uefa have since launched an independent inquiry and apologised for the chaos.
However, it has emerged that European football’s governing body had pre-written a statement blaming fans for the scenes before they had even taken place.
As relayed by the BBC on 23 September, over 1,700 fans who claim they were either injured or psychologically traumatised will now launch group action against Uefa.
Dinnery forecasts that Liverpool, who were praised for their response in the aftermath of the events, will continue to back their supporters in the legal action.
“There is previous here,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.
“Liverpool have stood by their supporters. The fans have been labelled the root cause of an issue when in fact Uefa were ill-informed, ill-prepared and ill-equipped.
“The decision by Uefa to host the game in Paris was flagged beforehand as a potential danger. There were concerns about bottlenecking and routes to the ground where there could have been potential flashpoints.

“To have some kind of pre-prepared statement is not a good look.
“I’m sure Liverpool will be trying everything in their power to ensure that the fans’ names are cleared and they are compensated as they should be.”
