Kieran Maguire: Liverpool to reject American offer amid ‘huge’ claim
Liverpool will likely reject the chance to join a proposed new six-team pre-season tournament in the United States.
That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the plans to take the Premier League overseas.
The Athletic reported on Monday (17 October) that the Premier League want to stage a six-team, multi-city pre-season tournament outside the United Kingdom.

The US, the home of Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group, is a likely destination.
It is claimed that the top flight hopes that at least one of the so-called Big Six will join the tournament.
Liverpool travelled to Thailand, Singapore, Austria and Germany during ahead of 2022-23 and can earn as much as £10million per year from pre-season events.
But Maguire does not believe that they will be keen to take in the new-fangled mini tournament across the pond.
“I don’t think Liverpool would necessarily be interested in being part of the six-team tournament in America,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.
“The reason for that is that the money would have to be split between them and five other teams, so the amount you earn gets smaller.

“They are such a huge brand and could secure a far more lucrative arrangement with local promoters and so on.
“That way, they wouldn’t need to share the limelight with five other clubs who would have far less allure than Liverpool.
