Kieran Maguire: Liverpool to make £217m-plus announcement after Billy Hogan claim
Commercial income will rise again at Liverpool thanks to their success on the pitch in 2021-22
That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire,” speaking exclusively to Football Insider about recent remarks made by Liverpool CEO Billy Hogan.
The FSG powerbroker told the Liverpool Echo last Tuesday (24 May) that the Merseysiders’ strong performance on the pitch this season will have a major impact on their commercial fortunes.
Jurgen Klopp’s side fell short on the final day of the Premier League season and were beaten 1-0 by Real Madrid in the Champions League final on Saturday (28 May).
But they lifted the League Cup as well as the FA Cup and lost just four of 63 games all season.
Liverpool earned £487million in 2020-21, with £217.6m of that figure attributed to commercial income.
And Maguire suggests that they will have added to this figure when the time comes to announce their accounts for 2021-22.
“I would expect commercial income to rise again this year,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.
“I don’t think there’s a more attractive brand in football at the minute.
“The Klopp factor is huge. They also have players who appeal to specific markets in Salah and Mane.
“If you can’t make more money out of your commercial relationship with all of those things in your favour, you’re never going to.
“Their commercial income has practically doubled since 2016. The last figures also came from a Covid. So, from a business point of view, I would expect those figures to rise because of that.”

Julian Ward is set to replace Michael Edwards as sporting director at Liverpool.
They are also in the process of adding another 7,000 seats to Anfield.
